Is there any other job openings, other than college professorship, that your degree will be put into good use? Have you networked with other people in your field to see what other people are doing?

I started MFA program also thinking I would teach, but by the end of the first year I knew my chance was very slim because of some stupid politics in the department. I did get my degree along with a certificate in completely different area, and guess what? This Spring, I am a lecturer in the field that I got my certificate in. You just never know where your road is going to go, even with detours.
